Founding Engineer

About the Company

A microbiome testing company offering advanced gut health analysis to healthcare practitioners and consumers. They provide 16S and shotgun sequencing tests and translate results into personalized dietary and health recommendations. Founded by academics and investment banking professionals, they are scaling their platform and looking for their first full-time engineer.

Responsibilities

• Own API development and database-backed application development across the stack
• Build and maintain third-party integrations and background jobs
• Design and manage CI/CD and deployment workflows
• Set up and maintain logging, monitoring, observability, and production debugging
• Ensure auditability, documentation, and testing across the codebase
• Conduct pull request reviews and drive technical collaboration

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with a strong track record in production systems
• Previous startup experience required
• Strong understanding of system architecture, availability, redundancy, and maintainability
• Hands-on experience with the tech stack or equivalent technologies
• Ability to work autonomously in EST-aligned hours
