About the Company
LumaLex Law is a forward-thinking law firm building its own AI-powered operating system from the ground up. They are replacing the patchwork of tools most firms rely on, billing software, generic document storage, off-the-shelf AI, with a single integrated platform purpose-built for legal work, with plans to spin it out as a standalone legal tech product.
Responsibilities
- Build a secure client portal with matter-scoped access controls and document vault (replacing Dropbox)
- Integrate with Clio API for invoice and balance views
- Develop AI-powered document Q&A and attorney review workflows
- Build attorney-facing matter dashboards and an AI drafting assistant trained on firm precedents
- Surface Gmail threads organized by matter
- Build billing and time-capture tooling integrated with Clio and QuickBooks
- Architect multi-tenant infrastructure for platform scaling to other law firms
- Implement admin controls, audit logs, onboarding workflows, and compliance tooling
Requirements
- Strong full-stack experience (Node.js or Python backend; React frontend)
- Secure authentication systems: OAuth2, JWT, role-based access controls
- REST API integration experience (Clio, QuickBooks, Gmail, Dropbox)
- Solid relational database design (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Proven experience building RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines for document Q&A
- Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, or similar)
- Comfortable working with OpenAI or Anthropic APIs
- Strong English communication skills — direct, daily interaction with non-technical leadership
- Minimum 4 hours/day overlap with US Eastern time
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in legal tech, fintech, or other regulated industries
- Document processing experience (PDF parsing, DOCX, OCR)
- Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS architecture
- Prior 0-to-1 startup or greenfield product experience
